Introduction to LLN

One of the steps in our enrolment processes with LTSA, is a Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills check. This helps us gain an understanding of your ability to use Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) in the context of a library environment.

This review this isn’t designed to be scary. It is just a process that we are required to undertake, to make sure that you have the necessary LLN skills to get you through the course you wish to undertake.

Our LLN tools have been written at the appropriate Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level, which will allow our Trainers and Assessors to identify any areas that may cause you difficultly as you progress through the course. Knowing this information up front will enable us to make the necessary adjustments before you start, or will enable us to provide recommendations for additional study prior to commencing your studies.

Remember, our job is to make sure that we give you the best chance of success in your studies!

This LLN tool should be completed as part of the pre-enrolment process. Any information collected will be treated as strictly confidential. It should take 1-1 ½ hours to complete. A calculator may be used for the Numeracy section of the tool.

Your Trainer and Assessor will provide feedback on your performance on this tool and these comments will also be recorded on your student file.

If you are studying an individual unit, the first number in the unit code correlates to the assessment you should pick. For example, if you enrolled in ICTWEB201, then select Certificate II LLN Assessment. For BSBLIB403, select Certificate IV LLN Assessment (please note, if your unit code has numbers 5 or 6 as the first number, select Diploma).
