Articulation Agreement
Library Training Services Australia has established an articulation agreement with Charles Sturt University (CSU) which enables students who complete their Diploma qualification with LTSA, a guaranteed pathway to higher education. This agreement also means that students gain credit towards their librarianship studies, and thus reduce HECS fees and the length of time required to complete their university course.
Supporting your learning
Studying by distance education can be daunting, but our staff are readily available to assist and guide you throughout your studies. Students are supported through site visits, by phone, email and where possible video conferencing to ensure they are motivated and learn to their full potential.
Learning Resources
As all courses delivered by LTSA are by Distance education/ Correspondence, our learning resources have been developed to ensure they are easy-to-use, understandable and comprehensive. Students receive a ring binder folder in which to store their printed Learner Guides and Assessment booklets, and also receive an electronic version of these via email. The user friendly Assessment booklets which are sent as editable Word documents, allow students to type in their answers to written tasks, and then simply email completed assessments back to their Trainer. The electronic version of each Learner Guide contains hypertext links to readings on the internet, as well as bibliographies of recommended texts. Whilst it is not mandatory to purchase the texts, students are able to obtain these through interlibrary loan or sometimes the workplace may purchase a specific title to add to their library collection.
Experienced Trainers
Library Training Services employs highly experienced, qualified and dedicated staff to assist students to achieve best possible training outcomes. With approximately 30 years’ experience working in university, school, medical, TAFE and scientific libraries as well as being a qualified secondary school teacher, our Training Manager brings a wealth of knowledge to the position. LTSA’s Training Manager has also worked in the Vocational Education Training (VET) sector for the past 6 years returning to her original vocation as a teacher now specialising in adult education. With a Master’s degree in Library Science in addition to an Arts degree, a Diploma of Education and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, our Training Manager is well equipped to advise you on career pathways and the Library/Information Services industry in general.
Engagement with industry
Library Training Services is proactive in seeking opportunities to engage with employers, professional associations and library workers across the various industry sectors. Our Training Manager played a significant role in reviewing and updating the CUL04 Museums and Library/Information Services Training Package having been invited by IBSA (the industry skills council responsible for the Training Package) to not only participate as a member of the National Project Reference Group, but also to review and edit all of the CUL04 library units. She also co-authored some new library units which now form part of the CUL11 Library, Information and Cultural Services Training Package.
Feedback from students and employer representatives is actively encouraged. As part of LTSA’s continual improvement processes course materials and assessment methods are regularly reviewed and updated to suit the ever changing library environment. New technologies and social media applications are reflected in the course materials, and regular updates regarding topics of interest or current trends appear regularly on our website through Twitter and Facebook updates.

Our Courses
Credit transfers
Credit transfers may be granted for previously completed units of competency. There is no charge for credit transfers.
Send a scanned or faxed copy of your Statement of Results from your previous training provider to study@ltsa.edu.au to obtain a quote.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the process of obtaining formal recognition for skills and knowledge you have acquired through previous work experience or other informal training. Students who believe they have acquired the necessary skills can complete units via the RPL kit process at a discounted rate, rather than completing all of the units by coursework. This allows you to not only reduce course costs but also fast track through the course.
The user friendly RPL kit process includes gathering relevant documentary evidence to support your submissions for each unit and also answering some key competency questions. RPL units are assessed one at a time, not in one large bundle. A preliminary assessment will be conducted before enrolment to advise which units we recommend could be completed via RPL and to identify any gap training (i.e. units to be completed via coursework).
For more information or to apply for RPL, please contact study@ltsa.edu.au.
